Jérémy Jacquet, 21, Expected in Zidane's First France Squad

Zinédine Zidane will unveil his first squad as France manager on Friday, nearly two months after his appointment. The Blues will gather at Clairefontaine for a two-and-a-half-week international window, with four UEFA Nations League matches scheduled against Turkey, Belgium (twice) and Italy.

According to L’Équipe, Jérémy Jacquet is expected to be among the new faces in the squad. The 21-year-old centre-back, who came through Stade Rennais’ academy and has made a promising start at Liverpool, is appreciated by Zidane’s staff. His call-up comes in the absence of William Saliba, ruled out with a back injury. Maxence Lacroix, meanwhile, reportedly failed to convince and could lose his place to Wesley Fofana. Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konaté, however, will be present.

In attack, the arrival of Estéban Lepaul is also anticipated. Last season’s Ligue 1 top scorer with 21 goals, his profile as a pure finisher would complement France’s offensive arsenal. Thirty-somethings Lucas Hernandez, Lucas Digne and N’Golo Kanté are not expected to make the trip to Clairefontaine.

On the left flank, Théo Hernandez’s adductor injury opens the door for Adrien Truffert and Matthieu Udol. The latter, a former Stade Rennais player now at Bournemouth, would be making his return to the squad, while Lens’ Truffert would be rewarded for an excellent season. On the right, Zidane would not rule out using Warren Zaïre-Emery as a full-back, as Luis Enrique occasionally does at PSG.

In midfield, Eduardo Camavinga, sidelined by Didier Deschamps for the 2026 World Cup, would find favour with the new manager. Another surprise could come from Lucas Da Cunha, Como captain and transformed under Cesc Fabregas’ management, who would move ahead of Enzo Le Fée in the hierarchy. The official squad will be announced Friday evening.
