Natalia Silva and Wang Cong will contest the undisputed UFC women’s flyweight title in the main event of UFC 332 on October 3 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, the promotion announced during the UFC Paris telecast on Saturday. The pairing fills a vacancy created by former champion Valentina Shevchenko, who could be out for up to a year, though no reason for her absence was given.

Silva arrives on one of the most impressive streaks in the division. The 29-year-old Brazilian is a perfect 8-0 inside the UFC and has won 14 consecutive fights dating back to 2018. Her last three victories have all come against former UFC champions — Rose Namajunas, Alexa Grasso, and Jessica Andrade — each settled by decision.

Wang’s path to a title shot has been anything but smooth. The Chinese fighter announced herself with a 62-second knockout of Victoria Leonardo on her UFC debut in 2024, but was then submitted by Gabriella Fernandes in her second outing. She has since reeled off four straight wins, the most recent a unanimous decision over Tracy Cortez at UFC 329 this past July, earning her the shot at gold.

A Wang victory would carry an added layer of intrigue. She and Shevchenko previously met in a kickboxing match in 2015, with Wang taking the decision — a result Shevchenko has disputed in subsequent interviews — meaning a future UFC meeting between the two could carry significant history.

The co-main event will see former 125-pound champion Deiveson Figueiredo take on bantamweight prospect Payton Talbott. The full UFC 332 card also features Khaos Williams vs. Roberto Soldic, King Green vs. Esteban Ribovics, and Marvin Vettori vs. Ismail Naurdiev among its undercard bouts.
