Second Hull City player rolls car on narrow lane near training ground
Lucas Gourna-Douath has rolled his car on Millhouse Woods Lane near Hull City's training ground, just weeks after Wales international Sorba Thomas flipped his Land Rover Defender on the same road. Both players escaped without injury.
Lucas Gourna-Douath became the second Hull City player to roll his car on Millhouse Woods Lane in the space of a few weeks, after images of the vehicle on its side emerged on social media. The summer signing escaped without injury, mirroring the outcome of a near-identical incident involving teammate Sorba Thomas.
Thomas had previously flipped his Land Rover Defender while driving down the same narrow road in Cottingham, a suburb of Hull that leads directly to the club’s training ground. He too walked away unscathed.
Millhouse Woods Lane has a history of speed-related concerns among local residents. Councillor Phil Redshaw visited the scene of Thomas’ crash and told reporters there had been “a few near misses” on the road in recent weeks.
“I wrote to the Hull City club secretary on Sunday asking them to remind players to be careful driving down the road because of the residents’ concerns,” Redshaw said. “I wanted them to remind their staff to drive with extra care, because they get new players in every season.”
The two incidents in quick succession on the same stretch of road are likely to intensify pressure on the club to address how its players approach the route to training.
