Savinho seals £75m Tottenham move in Manchester City's biggest-ever sale

Manchester City have completed the sale of winger Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur for an initial £75 million, a figure that represents a club-record outgoing transfer for the Premier League champions. City will receive an additional £5 million in a guaranteed payment on top of the base fee, with a further £5 million available in performance-related bonuses, taking the potential total to £85 million.

Savinho, who spent last season at City after joining from Troyes, expressed his excitement at the move while acknowledging the role his former club played in his development. “It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” he said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world. As soon as I spoke to the head coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”

Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi was equally enthusiastic about landing the Brazilian wide forward. “Savinho is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” De Zerbi said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity. We’re very pleased to have him with us, and I’m looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”

Tottenham Sporting Director Johan Lange confirmed the club had been tracking Savinho for some time before finalising the deal. “He has already shown his quality at the highest level, and we believe his ability, style and mentality will be a great fit for the squad we are building here,” Lange said.

Savinho departed City on warm terms, crediting the club with shaping him as both a player and a person. “My teammates, the staff, the fans… all of them were brilliant with me,” he said. “I will always be grateful to them. I enjoyed my time there immensely, especially winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season — moments I will treasure.”
