Mika Godts appears to have turned a corner at Paris Saint-Germain. After several weeks of quiet adaptation since his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam for 45 million euros, the 21-year-old Belgian international scored two goals in the space of five days: one on Monday against Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1, and another on Friday against Le Havre.

Since his arrival in the capital, Luis Enrique had used him sparingly. His substitute appearances, while not catastrophic, did not fully convince observers, who were eager to see the announced potential materialize. September’s international break appears to have been the turning point.

Bixente Lizarazu expressed his satisfaction on the Téléfoot L’After show: “It seems to me that the international sequence did him good. Because I wasn’t very impressed before that, but against France I saw him do things. He was really good against France in the first match, in his dribbling, in his speed. He was lively, troublesome in the defensive sense of the term. All the qualities you need to be a winger at PSG.”

Godts is also benefiting from context: absences in the Paris squad, including that of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, have given him more playing time. Recruited to fill the void left by Bradley Barcola’s sale, he now occupies the left flank of the attack and seems to be settling in. If the momentum continues, the Belgian winger could establish himself permanently in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven.
