Saka limps off inside 10 minutes as Arsenal lose talisman to injury in Bayern clash
Bukayo Saka was forced off with an apparent thigh injury in the 10th minute of Arsenal's Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, with Eberechi Eze brought on as his replacement.
Bukayo Saka suffered a fresh injury setback after being forced off inside the first 10 minutes of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, leaving the Gunners facing an anxious wait over the severity of the problem.
The England winger appeared to pick up a muscular injury in his thigh while attempting to play a pass outside the Bayern box, immediately clutching his quad before going to ground. After receiving treatment on the pitch, it became clear Saka would not be able to continue, and he limped off in the 10th minute to be replaced by Eberechi Eze.
Eze had been dropped to the bench despite scoring the winner for Arsenal against Nottingham Forest the previous weekend, losing his starting place to Noni Madueke. He was thrust into the action far earlier than anticipated as Arsenal were forced to reorganise against one of Europe’s most formidable opponents.
The extent of Saka’s injury remains unknown, with further details expected once medical staff have had the opportunity to assess him fully.
