Rima Edbouche backs Morocco from stands as Dembélé scores his fifth goal
At Gillette Stadium for the France-Morocco quarter-final (2-0), Rima Edbouche, wife of Ousmane Dembélé, publicly displayed her support for the Atlas Lions, while her husband scored his fifth goal of the tournament.
Rima Edbouche, wife of Ousmane Dembélé, experienced the 2026 World Cup quarter-final between France and Morocco (2-0) in a camp opposite to that of her husband. Present at Gillette Stadium among the families of the Blues, the young woman nevertheless displayed her Moroccan colors without ambiguity.
Born in Morocco and claiming her roots, Rima Edbouche had signaled her intentions before kick-off on her Instagram account. In a story, she posted a photo of the Moroccan jersey with the caption “outfit of the day,” clearly signaling her support for the Atlas Lions for this remake of the 2022 semi-final.
The result was not what she hoped for: Morocco fell to a French team that quickly took control of the match. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring with a strike from the edge of the box, before Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead a few minutes later.
This fifth goal at the World Cup places Dembélé in a historic position. Only two French players have done better in the history of the tournament: Kylian Mbappé, already credited with eight goals in this edition as in 2022, and Just Fontaine, whose record of thirteen goals scored in 1958 remains intact.
