Walid Regragui confirmed on Sunday that he was approached by several Ligue 1 clubs during the summer transfer window, including Paris FC, though no agreement was reached. The former Morocco national team coach, available since March, made these revelations during his first appearance as a television analyst.

At 50 years old, Regragui was clear about his ambitions: he wants to return to managing a club, not a national team. “I’m more focused on a club project, that’s what drives me. I was a club manager for ten years, the Morocco national team came to me somewhat by surprise, and I want to return to working with a club on a daily basis,” he said.

Regarding Paris FC, a club from his native region that was promoted to Ligue 1 this season, Regragui acknowledged that the project had appealed to him, before joking that it was ultimately the club that rejected his candidacy: “If it was them or me who refused? Rather them (laughs).” The Paris club’s executives opted for Englishman Liam Rosenior, the former Strasbourg manager.

The former Grenoble defender also confirmed other contacts in Ligue 1 during the summer, without revealing the names: “There were other approaches in Ligue 1, but they interested me less.” These statements suggest that Regragui remains actively seeking a position, with a stated preference for the French championship.
