Redpath and Burke headline Scotland duo whose club futures hang in the balance
Bath centre Cam Redpath is out of contract this summer and attracting French interest, while Saracens appear to have held off Edinburgh's push to sign Scotland fly-half Fergus Burke. Several All Blacks, including Damian McKenzie, are also being tracked by European clubs.
Bath and Scotland centre Cam Redpath is attracting interest from French clubs with no contract extension agreed at the Recreation Ground, while Saracens have seen off a challenge from Edinburgh to retain fly-half Fergus Burke ahead of the summer transfer window.
Redpath, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season after more than 100 appearances across seven years at Bath. His eligibility for a French passport — he was born in Narbonne, where his father Bryan played — makes him an attractive target for Top 14 clubs. No agreement to stay with the former Gallagher Premiership champions is currently in place.
Burke, 27, had been a target for Edinburgh, the current United Rugby Championship leaders, as well as Newcastle Red Bulls during the summer window. The Scotland fly-half, who earned his first international cap in 2025 and has made 50 appearances for Saracens, now looks set to remain in North London beyond this season.
Elsewhere in the transfer market, back-to-back Champions Cup winners Bordeaux-Bèglès have set their sights on Leicester Tigers inside centre Solomone Kata. The Tongan international, who can also play outside centre and wing, has made over 60 appearances for the Tigers following earlier stints with the Brumbies, Moana Pasifika and Exeter Chiefs. His career began in the NRL with the New Zealand Warriors and Melbourne Storm. The potential departure would represent a headache for Leicester head coach Geoff Parling, who also failed this week to lure England international Seb Atkinson from Gloucester after Atkinson signed a contract extension to stay at Kingsholm.
Bath have a further contract situation to resolve in Max Ojomoh, who is in the final year of his deal. There are reported whispers of a renewal in the pipeline for a player previously linked with Leicester.
In the southern hemisphere, All Blacks utility back Damian McKenzie, 31, has been linked with a post-2027 Rugby World Cup move to Top 14 side Lyon, though interest from Japan could complicate that pursuit. Beauden Barrett is separately reported to be on Bristol Bears’ radar.
Finally, Bay of Plenty tighthead prop Benet Kumeroa, 26, has been called into the Highlanders squad for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season and is attracting attention from Bristol Bears and Ireland’s four provinces. Kumeroa, who has represented the Māori All Blacks and All Blacks XV and made eight appearances for the Chiefs last season, holds potential Irish and English qualification. His availability has been boosted by Jermaine Ainsley facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury sustained during the NPC.
