Red Roses to face USA Eagles in New York for WXV Global Series finale in October
England's Red Roses will close their 2026 WXV Global Series campaign against the USA Women's Eagles at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Newark, New Jersey, on 30 October — a rematch of the Women's Rugby World Cup's record-breaking opening fixture.
England’s Red Roses will face the USA Women’s Eagles at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Newark, New Jersey, on 30 October as the final match of their 2026 WXV Global Series campaign. The fixture completes a six-Test window for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 champions, who will also play two matches against Canada in the fortnight before travelling to New Jersey.
The two sides last met at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light in August, in the opening game of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. That fixture drew more than 42,000 spectators — a tournament attendance record — with England running out 69-7 winners.
The USA Women’s Eagles will also host Italy, who finished fourth at this year’s Guinness Women’s Six Nations, across two fixtures in Mansfield, Texas, on 17 October and Nashville, Tennessee, on 24 October. It will be the first meeting between the Eagles and the Azzurre since the 2023 edition of WXV 2 in Cape Town.
In a separate announcement, the USA Men’s Eagles will host an Australia XV on back-to-back weekends in Nashville and Newark, with both matches forming doubleheaders alongside the Women’s Eagles fixtures. The last time the USA Men faced an Australia team was in 2015 at Chicago’s Soldier Field, in the build-up to that year’s Rugby World Cup.
“USA Rugby is excited to showcase USA Eagles’ energy in new cities across the United States this October,” said USA Rugby CEO Bill Goren. “We’re thrilled to host the WXV Global Series home games in Texas, Tennessee, and New Jersey, and welcome international powerhouses Italy and England for some exciting action.”
Goren added that the men’s doubleheaders form part of a broader preparation effort: “Fans get the chance to experience top-tier rugby on US soil as we prepare for the 2031 and 2033 Rugby World Cups.”
