Wallabies and All Blacks to clash at MCG on July 31 in 2027 Bledisloe Cup
Australia and New Zealand will meet at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 31 July 2027 as part of the Rugby Championship, with Melbourne also confirmed as a Bledisloe Cup host city in 2029. The MCG last staged the fixture in 2023, drawing a crowd of 83,944.
The Wallabies and All Blacks will renew their rivalry at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, 31 July 2027, Rugby Australia has confirmed, with the match forming part of the Flight Centre Rugby Championship in a Rugby World Cup year.
The fixture will be the fifth Test between the two nations at the MCG and arrives exactly 30 years after they first shared the famous ground. Australia and New Zealand have each won two of the previous four meetings at the venue, setting up what Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh described as “another enthralling contest”.
“The Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the world’s great stadiums – and a jewel in Australia’s sporting crown – and the Wallabies are proud to be hosting the All Blacks at the iconic venue in 2027,” Waugh said. “It is fitting that a year as significant for Australian Rugby as 2027 includes a blockbuster home Test match at the MCG.”
The last time the sides met at the ground, in 2023, a crowd of 83,944 packed in to watch New Zealand win 38-7. The Victorian Government, which backed that fixture, has also confirmed Melbourne will host a further Bledisloe Cup match in 2029.
The MCG date is one of five confirmed Wallabies home fixtures in 2027. The schedule opens with a historic Anzac Day Test against New Zealand at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on 25 April, before back-to-back matches against Argentina — at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on 10 July and Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville on 17 July. The series closes with a home fixture against Ireland at GIO Stadium in Canberra on 18 September, less than two weeks before the Rugby World Cup kicks off in Australia on 1 October.
Australia and New Zealand are drawn together in Rugby World Cup Group A, meaning the Bledisloe Cup rivals could meet a fourth time in 2027 when the tournament proper begins.
