Rebecca Lowe has led an outpouring of grief from the NBC Sports family after the sudden death of a beloved colleague known as Wendy, with the presenter describing the team as being in “deep shock” following the loss.

Lowe, who has fronted NBC’s Premier League coverage since 2013 and is currently working for Fox on their World Cup broadcasting alongside Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Alexi Lalas, turned to Instagram late on Monday night to share a moving tribute.

“Our Wendy. The NBC Sports Family are in deep shock today, mourning the loss of our wonderful Wendy,” Lowe wrote, posting a collection of photographs of her colleague. “She wasn’t one for photos so thank you @gab_angelique for sending these beautiful pictures and how fitting that they should be of Wendy with so many of the young people she helped.”

Lowe highlighted Wendy’s lasting impact beyond the workplace, writing: “She positively affected young people’s lives, giving them a chance, opening a door and for that she will be remembered through the lives of so, so many. Our love and hearts go out to her family to whom she was so dedicated.”

“She was a marvel and we hold her family, friends and all the young people at NBC in our hearts. With our love always.”

Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Mustoe, a regular alongside Lowe on NBC’s coverage, also paid tribute. “It’s really hard to say just how special Wendy was in our NBC family,” he wrote. “She cared so much about making our lives easier… Supporting us in so many ways for so long. This is really heartbreaking. I should have told her more about how much I appreciated her. This is devastating.”

Ex-USMNT, Manchester United, and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard added: “Truly one of the best to do it. She will be missed dearly.”

Other NBC colleagues echoed the sentiment. “This is absolutely heartbreaking. The most caring and selfless woman who took care of everyone she worked with. She will be so missed,” one wrote. Another described Wendy as “everybody’s mum”, adding: “Nothing was ever too big or too small. The world has lost a special one.”

The exact nature of Wendy’s role within the NBC Sports operation has not been confirmed, but the depth of feeling expressed by so many colleagues leaves no doubt about the mark she left on those around her.
