Eduardo Camavinga could be available this summer after Real Madrid indicated a willingness to sell the France international, with Manchester United and Manchester City both credited with interest, according to the Daily Mail.

United have already invested heavily in midfield this window, signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for a combined fee of around £83m as they prepare for a first full season under Michael Carrick and a return to the Champions League. The club are now said to be targeting “more conservatively priced options” as they look to fill the void left by Casemiro’s departure and a serious knee injury to Manuel Ugarte.

Camavinga, 23, joined Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021 and has spent five seasons at the Bernabeu. Despite reportedly wanting to stay in Madrid, the club may look to sell him in order to fund further incoming transfers of their own.

City are also monitoring the situation but are understood to be prioritising a move for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, the 18-year-old who impressed for Morocco at the World Cup.

Should a deal for Camavinga prove unworkable, United have also been linked with Roma’s Manu Kone, who featured five times for France at the World Cup. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that United have already contacted Kone’s representatives to open discussions over a potential move.

United’s pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, meanwhile, appears to have collapsed. Romano has stated that deal is off, having seemingly been close to completion before the World Cup.

With several options reportedly on their shortlist, United’s priority remains securing a defensive-minded midfielder before the window closes.
