Kylian Mbappé may have scored eight goals in this World Cup, but his elimination with the France team against Spain was enough to reignite criticism. Among the most scathing came from rapper Booba, who reacted on social media in the hours following the Blues’ defeat.

“It’s the end of the World Cup, the end of the masquerade. That guy, the black cat, he scored against Sierra Leone and the Kiwi Islands and you tried to make him a gladiator, when he sank Spain by going to Real Madrid! Spain then came and sank him with the France team, so that’s a double sink!” the 49-year-old artist said.

Booba didn’t stop there. He also questioned the French striker’s captain status and the staff’s squad management: “Actually, you decided it was a mess, that he was going to be the captain. We even heard that Dembélé had his place on the bench… Yeah, that’s enough guys… That’s enough.”

This is not the first time the rapper has publicly attacked Mbappé. The rivalry between the two men dates back at least to 2022, when a report broadcast on TF1 showed France team players singing the track 92i Veyron — everyone except Mbappé. Booba had reacted at the time: “We see you Kyky, you’re not singing, that’s why you’re not winning!!!”

Statistically speaking, Mbappé’s record in this World Cup remains solid. Eight goals in the final phase of a World Cup is an individual performance difficult to ignore. But for Booba, numbers don’t make a leader — and elimination against the Roja gave him a platform he was not about to miss.
