Raphinha’s wife Natalia Belloli has publicly defended the Barcelona forward after former Brazil international Vampeta claimed on the Red Cast podcast that the winger is dealing with serious family and financial difficulties — and is actively seeking a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

Vampeta, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, made the allegations directly: “Raphinha is facing serious family and financial problems. He’s praying he can join Al Hilal; he’s having a really tough time. He is counting on joining Al Hilal to turn things around.”

The claims drew an immediate response from Raphinha’s cousin, Padilha, who addressed Vampeta on social media: “You’ll have to explain these lies, my friend.”

Belloli then went further, releasing a lengthy statement that, without naming Vampeta directly, appeared squarely aimed at his remarks. “True influence isn’t about pointing out mistakes or exposing someone to gain attention,” she wrote. “True power lies in inspiring, teaching, welcoming, and promoting values that contribute to a better society.”

She continued: “We are going beyond the limits of ignorance. Don’t teach your child to smile at anyone’s pain. If your soul cannot be malleable and your brain cannot accept evolution, at least help the next generation to be better.”

Belloli also offered a personal portrait of her husband that stood in contrast to Vampeta’s characterisation. “I know the man behind the athlete. I know his character, his humility, his discipline, and the love he has for football and for Brazil. I know the sleepless nights, the demands he places on himself, and the weight he carries every time he steps onto the field representing millions of people.”

She closed with a message of defiance: “You see a player. I see a human being. I am so proud of you, my love, because you are tireless and unstoppable. And you will return like a phoenix, as you always have.”

Raphinha is currently sidelined with a muscle injury sustained during Brazil’s opening World Cup qualifier against Haiti. Belloli has previously spoken publicly about how difficult the recovery period has been for the 28-year-old, who has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers this season.
