Raphinha escapes the worst: just a muscle edema, return targeted against Getafe
Withdrawn with injury during the friendly Australia-Brazil match, Raphinha underwent tests in Barcelona that ruled out any serious injury. The Barcelona forward is suffering from mild muscle edema in his right thigh and is targeting a return on October 10 against Getafe.
Raphinha is suffering only from mild muscle edema at the back of his right thigh, confirmed by additional tests taken in Barcelona after his early return from the Seleção gathering.
The 29-year-old forward left prematurely the friendly match between Australia and Brazil (2-4) last week. The Brazilian Confederation then announced his release in a statement: “Raphinha underwent imaging examination on Wednesday the 30th, which revealed mild muscle edema at the back of his right thigh. As a precaution and to promote his rapid recovery, the player will be released from the Brazilian national team. No athlete will replace him for the friendly match against India.”
Back in Catalonia, the former Rennes player underwent further tests that confirmed the absence of any serious injury, according to Mundo Deportivo. The muscle discomfort remains mild, which opens the way for a quick return.
Barcelona could thus get their winger back when La Liga resumes on October 10 against Getafe.
