Rakhmonov hints at undefeated vs undefeated clash with Morales in UFC welterweight division
Shavkat Rakhmonov has hinted at a potential fight against Michael Morales, with both welterweight contenders carrying 19-0 records. Rakhmonov has been sidelined since December 2024 with knee injuries, while Morales has been without a booking since defeating Sean Brady in November 2025.
Shavkat Rakhmonov has signalled his interest in fighting Michael Morales, teasing a clash between two of the UFC welterweight division’s last remaining undefeated contenders. Both men carry 19-0 records, and Rakhmonov hinted at the matchup via a TikTok caption, stopping short of naming Morales directly but leaving little room for interpretation.
The context makes the subtext clear. Morales recently released a video calling out several top welterweights — including champion Islam Makhachev, Carlos Prates, Ian Machado Garry, and Rakhmonov, whom he labelled “the final boss.” Rakhmonov’s response, however cryptic, appears to be a direct acknowledgement of that challenge.
Neither fighter has been active recently. Rakhmonov has not competed since December 2024, when persistent knee injuries forced him out of action following a win over Ian Machado Garry. That absence proved costly in terms of title positioning — Garry went on to challenge Makhachev for the welterweight belt while Rakhmonov recovered on the sidelines.
Morales, meanwhile, has been waiting for a new booking since stopping Sean Brady in November 2025, a result that extended his own run of three consecutive first-round knockouts over Brady, Gilbert Burns, and Neil Magny. Despite that momentum, no fight has been formalised for the Ecuadorian contender.
No official announcement has been made by the UFC, and both fighters remain without confirmed dates. Should the matchup come together, it would represent one of the more compelling all-or-nothing contests the welterweight division has produced in years — two unbeaten records, one of which must end.
