DeMoor eye injury forces coach Gary Olive into Misfits ring against Pereira's trainer Plinio Cruz
Chase DeMoor has withdrawn from his Misfits Boxing bout against UFC coach Plinio Cruz due to an eye injury, with DeMoor's own trainer Gary Olive stepping in as a last-minute replacement at Copper Box Arena in London on 10 October.
Chase DeMoor has pulled out of his Misfits Boxing contest against Plinio Cruz — Alex Pereira’s UFC corner — because of an eye injury, and his replacement is DeMoor’s own coach, Gary Olive. The fight takes place on Saturday, 10 October at Copper Box Arena in London, with the event starting at 6 p.m. local time.
DeMoor had been a notable name on the card after previously beating Andrew Tate at Misfits Mania: The Fight Before Christmas in Dubai. His late withdrawal reshapes the undercard considerably, turning what was a fighter-vs-coach contest into what Misfits Boxing is now billing as a “battle of the coaches.”
Olive confirmed his acceptance on Instagram, framing the call-up as an opportunity he was unwilling to pass up. “When an opportunity comes knocking, I’ll answer that door,” he wrote. “I’m forever grateful to Chase DeMoor for putting me in these positions because without him none of this is possible.”
Cruz brings significant credentials into the matchup. The Brazilian cornerman has been recognised as UFC Coach of the Year and has worked extensively with light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Alex Pereira throughout his MMA career.
The Copper Box Arena event is headlined by Joey Essex against Daniel O’Reilly, known publicly as “Dapper Laughs.”
