PSG and FC Barcelona will face off in the Ligue des Champions on Tuesday evening at Parc des Princes with seriously depleted squads, both teams having suffered multiple injuries this weekend.

On the Paris side, Nuno Mendes is the most concerning case. Withdrawn through injury during the trip to Strasbourg, the Portuguese left-back has a thigh injury and will be absent for several weeks. His teammate Maghnes Akliouche, also injured on the ankle late in the match, remains uncertain for Tuesday’s encounter. There is also the longer-term absence of Senny Mayulu, already sidelined before this weekend.

Barcelona is no better off, and it is their right flank that has been hit hardest. The Catalan club has officially confirmed the absences of Eric Garcia and Jules Koundé for the trip to Paris. Garcia is suffering from a right thigh muscle injury that will keep him out for three to four weeks. Koundé, victim of a left ankle sprain, will also miss the match, although the club hopes to have him back in time for the Clásico against Real Madrid next Sunday.

With both of Hansi Flick’s usual right-backs simultaneously sidelined, Joao Cancelo is expected to start at Parc des Princes. The left flank would be entrusted to young Xavi Espart, who finds himself thrust into one of the season’s most anticipated European fixtures.
