The 2026 Formula 1 season's running teammate qualifying head-to-head standings have been updated through the Mexico Grand Prix, with Oscar Piastri holding a 17-8 overall edge over Lando Norris at McLaren and Max Verstappen dominating Isack Hadjar 17-4 at Red Bull.

Oscar Piastri has extended his qualifying advantage over Lando Norris to 17-8 on the season following the Mexico Grand Prix, according to the updated 2026 Formula 1 teammate head-to-head records. Stripped of sprint shootout results, Piastri’s edge narrows to 7-12 in Norris’s favour across conventional qualifying sessions alone.

At Mercedes, the battle between George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli remains the tightest of the top teams. Russell leads 12-13 overall — a deficit of one — though the gap tightens to 8-11 without sprints. Antonelli took the upper hand in Mexico, outqualifying Russell by 0.184 seconds in Q3.

Max Verstappen has been the most dominant qualifier against his teammate this season. The four-time world champion leads Isack Hadjar 17-4 overall at Red Bull, or 12-4 excluding sprint events. Hadjar failed to set a representative lap in Australia after going off before completing a timed effort in Q1, and Verstappen has rarely been troubled since. In Mexico, Verstappen qualified seventh and held a 0.208-second margin over Hadjar in Q3.

The records are compiled exclusively on qualifying results to ensure that grid penalties — which can significantly alter a driver’s starting position — do not distort the teammate comparison. Where a driver was unable to set a representative lap due to a technical problem or an on-track incident, that context is noted alongside the result.

Notable anomalies in the data include Verstappen’s disqualification for a technical breach in Miami qualifying, Russell’s Azerbaijan crash that left him 1.889 seconds adrift in Q1, and a track-limits deletion that cost Verstappen a lap time in the Singapore sprint shootout.

With the season in its closing stages, Piastri’s qualifying consistency over Norris at McLaren and Verstappen’s commanding record over Hadjar at Red Bull stand out as the defining intra-team narratives of 2026 so far.
