Montblanc and Ferrari unveil $4,300 carbon-fibre fountain pen inspired by Tailor Made supercars
Montblanc has launched a $4,300 fountain pen in collaboration with Ferrari, featuring a carbon-fibre barrel with blue thread, an 18-carat gold ruthenium-coated nib, and design cues drawn from the brand's bespoke Tailor Made personalisation programme.
Montblanc and Ferrari have released a co-branded fountain pen priced at $4,300 in the United States, making it nearly four times the cost of Montblanc’s own classic Meisterstuck 149. The Meisterstuck Great Masters Ferrari Tailor Made Inedita Special Edition is the latest product to emerge from the two brands’ ongoing design partnership.
The pen draws its identity from Ferrari Tailor Made, the personalisation programme that allows car buyers to specify their own colours, materials and finishes. Tailor Made is divided into three themes — Classica, Scuderia and Inedita — with Inedita positioned as the most experimental, combining unconventional materials in a single object. True to that brief, the pen’s cap and barrel are constructed from carbon fibre with blue thread woven through the weave, while the metal fittings carry a glossy black PVD finish.
The nib is handcrafted from solid 18-carat gold and coated in ruthenium. An aluminium Prancing Horse sits on the barrel, and a specially shaped clip replaces the standard Meisterstuck design. The Montblanc emblem on the cap is made from Azzurro Dino resin — a shade Ferrari identifies as the blue of the 1969 Ferrari Dino 246, the car named after Enzo Ferrari’s son Alfredo, known as Dino.
For buyers who prefer a different writing instrument, a matching $4,000 rollerball is available, and Ferrari’s own store lists a $4,000 ballpoint. A co-ordinating Inedita notepad is priced at $185 and a pen case at $595, bringing the full collection to just over $9,000.
The Inedita is the second pen produced through the Ferrari Design Studio and Tailor Made partnership. The first, the Classica, launched in 2025 and references Ferrari’s grand touring cars of the 1950s and 1960s at the same $4,300 price point.
Neither pen, however, approaches the top of the Ferrari–Montblanc price ladder. That position belongs to the titanium Stilema SP3 fountain pen, inspired by the Daytona SP3 hypercar and limited to 599 pieces — matching the car’s production run. Featuring white gold on the cap, nib and filling mechanism alongside a blade of Rosso Corsa resin, it is listed on Ferrari’s store at $27,500. Both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz own the car that inspired it.
