Parnasse demolishes Hooker in 2:35 on UFC Paris debut, demands Holloway next

Salahdine Parnasse announced himself to the UFC with a ferocious first-round knockout of Dan Hooker in the main event of UFC Paris on Saturday, finishing the veteran lightweight in just 2:35 and immediately demanding a fight with Max Holloway.

Given the rare honour of headlining a card on his octagon debut, Parnasse wasted little time justifying the billing. After an early exchange of leg and body kicks, he detonated a heavy body kick that visibly buckled Hooker. With the New Zealander wincing and unable to recover, Parnasse followed with a glancing head kick and then swarmed with a blistering series of punches until the referee intervened to save Hooker from further punishment.

“I’m the best fighter of the world,” Parnasse said in his post-fight interview. “I knew I was going to finish the fight. I finish all my fights by KO. I’m ready for the next fight. Top five.”

The 26-year-old Frenchman was unambiguous about his preferred next opponent. “My dream fight is Max Holloway. He’s the legend. Good condition, legendary of UFC, ‘BMF’ — I’m ready for Max Holloway.”

The callout carries logic beyond ambition. Holloway’s most recent outing was effectively ruined when Conor McGregor suffered a knee injury just seconds into their scheduled bout, leaving the former featherweight champion without a meaningful result and in need of a fresh matchup. Parnasse, riding the momentum of a spectacular debut, could be a credible option.

For Hooker, the loss is a difficult one. The 35-year-old had been a durable and respected presence in the lightweight division for years, but he had little answer for the speed and variety of Parnasse’s striking arsenal on the night.

Parnasse moves to 1-0 in the UFC, though his unbeaten professional record — built on a string of knockout finishes — suggested this kind of entrance was always possible. Whether the promotion matches him with Holloway or eases him into the top five through another route, Saturday’s performance confirmed the hype around him is grounded in something real.
