Olise scores twice and provides assist as Bayern crushes Magdeburg 6-1 without Kane
Without Harry Kane, left on the bench despite his recent Ballon d'Or award, Bayern Munich dominated Magdeburg 6-1 in the Coupe d'Allemagne, led by Michael Olise who scored twice and provided an assist.
Michael Olise lit up Bayern Munich’s evening with a brace and an assist, propelling the Bavarians into the round of 16 of the Coupe d’Allemagne at the expense of Magdeburg (6-1) on Wednesday.
Facing the second-division club, Bayern left no doubt about the outcome. Beyond Olise, Saibari, Davies, Brown and Daiber also got their names on the scoresheet, sealing a victory as emphatic as it was convincing.
The main talking point of the evening on the Bayern side was the absence of Harry Kane from the starting eleven. The newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner remained on the bench throughout the match, leaving his teammates to manage without him against this supposedly accessible opposition.
Among the other Bundesliga clubs in action tonight, Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg and Stuttgart also secured qualification for the next round. The only sour note for German elite: Schalke 04, a second-division side, lost 2-0 away to Dresden and exited the competition prematurely.
