Lando Norris secured pole position for the 2026 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, heading the provisional starting grid ahead of Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes in second place.

Stroll will start from the back of the grid after Aston Martin fitted new engine components to his car, triggering automatic grid penalties under F1 regulations. The Canadian driver’s demotion reshuffles the midfield order ahead of Sunday’s race.

Norris’s pole is a significant result for McLaren as the championship battle continues to develop through the European leg of the season. The Briton has been among the frontrunners in recent rounds, and a clean run from the head of the grid in Barcelona will be crucial to converting qualifying pace into race points.

Antonelli’s second-place start marks another strong showing for the young Mercedes driver, who has continued to impress since stepping up to the top tier of the sport.

The grid remains provisional pending final confirmation from the FIA.
