Hadjar summoned to Mexico GP stewards after shoving fan in F1 paddock
Isack Hadjar faces a stewards' hearing at the Mexico Grand Prix after shoving a fan twice who approached him for a selfie in the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez paddock, with the Red Bull driver cited for alleged misconduct under the FIA International Sporting Code.
Isack Hadjar has been summoned before the Mexico Grand Prix stewards after shoving a fan who approached him for a photograph in the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez paddock on Friday. The Red Bull driver pushed the fan away twice, prompting officials to cite him for an alleged breach of Article 12.2.1.l of the FIA International Sporting Code — the provision covering misconduct.
The incident occurred between the two Friday practice sessions, at a moment when Hadjar was already frustrated. In FP1, he had managed only 21 laps due to power unit problems and finished 11th, 1.417 seconds behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who set the pace. That lap count was the third-lowest of the session, ahead only of Jak Crawford in the Aston Martin and Freddie Slater in the Audi.
The stewards’ summons document stated: “Alleged breach of Article 12.2.1.l of the FIA International Sporting Code — Misconduct, relating to an incident in the Formula 1 paddock today.”
Hadjar’s afternoon improved considerably. In FP2 he climbed to sixth, cutting his deficit to Leclerc — again the session leader — to 0.410 seconds. Teammate Max Verstappen finished fifth in the same session.
The outcome of the stewards’ hearing has yet to be confirmed. Penalties under the misconduct article can range from a formal reprimand to a fine or, in more serious cases, further sporting sanctions.
