Nantes snatches draw at Guingamp but remains bottom of Ligue 2
Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Nantes reversed the situation to lead 3-2 before conceding a penalty in added time (3-3). Nantes remain bottom after four matches without a win.
Nantes failed to secure their first win of the season in Ligue 2: trailing 2-0 at half-time away at Guingamp, the Canaries turned the match around before being pegged back by a penalty in added time (3-3), Saturday 29 August.
The evening had started badly for FC Nantes, without Michel Der Zakarian and now led by Grégory Poirier. Ben Brahim (9th) then Gomis (15th) quickly put Guingamp in control, leaving the Canaries in a difficult position at the break.
Nantes’ response was real, however. Younoussa, who scored twice (22nd, 49th), brought his team level, before Joujou gave the visitors the lead in the 85th minute. Nantes looked set for their first win of the season.
But referee Mickaël Leleu awarded a penalty to En Avant Guingamp for a handball in the box in stoppage time. Gomis, already a goalscorer in the first half, converted the penalty at 90+8 to make it 3-3 and deny Nantes a victory that was within their grasp.
In the standings, the Canaries remain bottom of Ligue 2 after four matches without a win — three defeats and this first point earned the hard way. Guingamp, meanwhile, climb to 11th place.
