Modric reveals Madrid will be his permanent home once playing career ends

Luka Modric has confirmed that he plans to make Madrid his permanent home once his playing career is over, telling MARCA in an interview conducted at Milanello that the Spanish capital remains central to his life and his family’s identity.

The Croatian midfielder spent 13 years at Real Madrid and described that period as formative for both himself and his family. His children were born in Madrid and carry a strong connection to the city, a bond Modric says he shares even while living and competing in Milan. His remarks frame the future move as a personal decision about where to live rather than a signal of a return to Real Madrid in a playing or coaching capacity.

Modric was careful not to attach a timetable to his plans or outline any specific role he might take at the club. The interview keeps the emphasis firmly on the emotional and personal significance of Madrid, leaving practical details open.

On the subject of his continued ability to compete, Modric pointed to a lifelong dedication to training. He said he has not gone a week without training since the age of six, presenting that unbroken routine as a key reason he remains active at the highest level. MARCA described him as relaxed and content in his new chapter at Milan, while still displaying the competitive drive that has defined his career.

Modric also pushed back against the tendency to judge veteran players primarily by age, arguing that performance on the pitch should be the main measure.
