McTominay unwinds in St Barts after Scotland's World Cup exit with Napoli title in his pocket
Scott McTominay has been holidaying in St Barts with girlfriend Cam Reading following Scotland's group-stage elimination at the World Cup. The Napoli midfielder wrapped up a 44-game season in which he scored 14 goals and won the Serie A MVP award.
Scott McTominay is taking a well-earned break in St Barts after a season that brought a Serie A title, an MVP award, and a World Cup appearance with Scotland. The 29-year-old Napoli midfielder travelled to the Caribbean island with his girlfriend, model Cam Reading, who shared a series of holiday photographs on Instagram captioned simply: “St Barths.”
The trip follows a gruelling campaign in which McTominay played 44 games for Napoli, scoring 14 goals, before joining up with Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He had been instrumental in getting Scotland there, most memorably with an overhead kick in the decisive playoff win over Denmark — the country’s first World Cup qualification since 1998.
Scotland were drawn in a group alongside five-time winners Brazil and 2022 semi-finalists Morocco. An opening victory over Haiti was not enough to carry them through as one of the best third-placed teams, and a 3-0 defeat to Brazil in their final group game ended their tournament. Clarke resigned as manager in the aftermath.
McTominay played every minute of Scotland’s three group games, but the early exit could not overshadow what had been a remarkable debut season at club level. After leaving Manchester United — where he made 255 appearances having come through the academy — he joined Napoli in 2024 and immediately helped the club win the Serie A title, earning the league’s Most Valuable Player award in the process.
Saint Barthélemy, a French overseas territory with a population of around 11,550, is a well-established destination for the ultra-wealthy. Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich purchased property on the island in 2009, and Forbes has reported that figures including Michael Jordan and Jeff Bezos have docked superyachts there around the New Year period.
With the Serie A season set to resume in the coming months, McTominay will return to Napoli looking to build on one of the most successful debut seasons any player has had in Italian football in recent years.
