Kylian Mbappé has terminated his contract with Nike, the equipment manufacturer that had backed him since his professional beginnings, to commit to a ten-year partnership with On, the Swiss brand founded in 2010 whose revenue now exceeds 3 billion euros. The 27-year-old Real Madrid forward will not simply be an ambassador: he will also become a shareholder in the company.

Thierry Henry, 1998 World Cup champion, joins the venture as football director. The duo will lead the development of the On Football range, a strategic pivot for a brand previously positioned mainly in running. The stated objective is to compete directly with Adidas, Puma and Nike, with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games in sight.

The model Mbappé intends to follow is that of Roger Federer, who joined On in 2019 and actively participated in designing The Roger range. The all-time leading scorer in World Cup history no longer wants to simply put his name on a pair of boots: he seeks to build and embody a long-term business project.

This ambition extends beyond sport. On already counts among its ambassadors figures such as Iga Swiatek, Ben Shelton and Zendaya, the actress having joined the brand two years ago for its positioning at the intersection of sport and lifestyle. It is precisely this broader vision, which Nike could no longer offer him according to his entourage, that convinced the former PSG player to take the step.
