Marquinhos saved PSG from a second consecutive Ligue 1 defeat, heading home the equalizing goal in the 95th minute on Lille’s pitch at Pierre-Mauroy on Friday evening. The Parisians, who trailed 2-0, completed a comeback identical to the one they achieved at Rennes in Matchday 1.

Lille had appeared to be holding onto victory. Haraldsson opened the scoring as early as the 21st minute for the Dogues, who were solid and dangerous on the counter-attack. Bakwa, fresh from his arrival in the North and introduced in the second half, looked to have sealed the match with a well-taken goal in the 87th minute.

But PSG refused to surrender. Set up by Mika Godts, Vitinha revived the French champions with a superb curling left-footed strike in the 91st minute. The Portuguese midfielder then turned provider for his captain Marquinhos, who headed home the 2-2 equalizer in the 95th minute, capping off a spectacular comeback.

With this point snatched in stoppage time, PSG confirms a worrying trend: two matches, twice trailing 2-0, twice rescued in the final minutes. Defensive solidity remains a work in progress for the Parisians as the season begins.
