The theory made waves in England, but it doesn’t hold up. As Manchester City and Tottenham finalize a double transfer — Savinho for €100 million and Omar Marmoush for approximately €58 million plus €12 million in bonuses — some British media outlets had suggested a financial arrangement between the two clubs to circumvent a resale clause negotiated by Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to TEAMTalk, the two operations would not have constituted two separate sales, but a global agreement. Savinho’s value would have been artificially inflated, Marmoush’s reduced accordingly, so that Manchester City would avoid paying Frankfurt 15% of the Egyptian striker’s transfer fee — a clause that would have been inserted when he was recruited in January 2025 for €75 million.

Sky Sports quickly contradicted this version. No resale clause exists in Marmoush’s contract, contrary to what had been reported. Eintracht Frankfurt has already received all sums due from Manchester City, bonuses included. The English club has, according to the terms used, “fulfilled all its payment obligations”.

The 27-year-old striker was cleared to undergo his medical examination with Tottenham on Wednesday, the final step before the official announcement of his transfer to north London. As for Savinho, his arrival at Manchester City has already been made official for €100 million.
