Manchester United prepares offer for Mamadou Sangaré, RC Lens breakthrough star
Following Casemiro's departure, Manchester United is targeting Mamadou Sangaré, RC Lens midfielder and 2026 Marc-Vivien Foé Award winner. An offer is being prepared for the player valued at €40 million.
Manchester United is preparing to make an offer for Mamadou Sangaré, RC Lens midfielder, according to information from Foot Mercato published Thursday. The Manchester club, which has just officially confirmed Casemiro’s departure, has made the Mali international one of its summer transfer priorities.
At 23 years old, Sangaré had a remarkable first season in Ligue 1 since arriving from Rapid Vienna for €8 million last summer. An undisputed starter from the opening matches, he impressed with his versatility and physical presence, to the point of being awarded the 2026 Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, which recognizes the best African player competing in the French championship.
Under contract until 2030, the midfielder is valued at €40 million by Transfermarkt. Several European clubs have expressed interest, but Manchester United currently appears to be in pole position. At Lens, the club’s leadership now considers his departure inevitable.
The Artois club faces a summer of transitions. Captain Adrien Thomasson already joined Stade Rennais on May 28, and manager Pierre Sage is expected to sign with Crystal Palace. Sangaré’s departure to the Premier League would add to a list of significant losses for RC Lens.
