Galtier names all-PSG trio for Ballon d'Or, with Fabian Ruiz leading the way
With 24 days to go until the ceremony in London, former PSG manager Christophe Galtier is backing Fabian Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to succeed Dembélé on the Ballon d'Or honours list.
Christophe Galtier has named three Paris Saint-Germain players as his favourites for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, with a marked preference for Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz. The former PSG manager, now in position at Neom in Saudi Arabia, spoke to Le Parisien less than a month before the ceremony scheduled for 26 October in London.
“If you look at the trophies won, I would name Fabian Ruiz,” he said. “If you focus on the matches, I think Ousmane Dembélé, even though he hasn’t played much, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been very impressive. One of these three players deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.”
Within this trio, it is Fabian Ruiz who stands out in Galtier’s eyes. “If there is one player who allows the collective to be so well-oiled, it’s him. He sees everything before the others, he compensates for movements, he feels the game,” he elaborated, praising the driving role of the Spanish international in PSG’s play.
The Ballon d’Or will be awarded on 26 October in London. Ousmane Dembélé, the defending champion, could thus become the first player to retain the trophy consecutively since Lionel Messi, according to the scenario envisaged by his former coach.
