Manchester United post £22.6m operating profit as Ratcliffe's cost-cutting takes hold

Manchester United posted a full-year operating profit of £22.6 million in their fiscal 2026 financial results, the club announced, marking a significant turnaround driven by cost-cutting measures introduced since Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a minority stake and took control of football operations.

Chief Executive Omar Berrada described the figures as evidence of the club’s underlying commercial strength, noting they were achieved in a season when United did not compete in European football. “We are pleased to have secured record revenues and adjusted EBITDA,” Berrada said. “This shows the direct impact of the work we have been doing over the past two years. It also proves Manchester United’s enduring popularity and commercial strength.”

Berrada added that while the results confirm the club is “on the right trajectory”, United would continue to take a disciplined approach to financial management. The CEO also pointed to activity in the summer transfer window, with reinforcements made to both the men’s and women’s squads, and confirmed that Champions League football returns to Old Trafford this season.

On the commercial side, the club has added Betway as a Training Kit partner and SumUp as a Sleeve partner, joining existing deals with kit supplier Adidas and front-of-shirt partner Snapdragon.

Perhaps the most significant long-term development flagged in the results is progress on United’s proposed new stadium. Berrada confirmed the club has completed “the major milestone of securing the land” earmarked for the proposed 100,000-seat ground, a project that would represent one of the largest infrastructure investments in football history.
