Manchester United have opened talks with West Ham and Crysencio Summerville’s representatives over a potential £50 million move for the winger, as manager Michael Carrick looks to reshape his squad ahead of the new season. The Dutch winger has emerged as United’s primary left-sided target, though the club’s pursuit is complicated by the unresolved future of Marcus Rashford.

United have yet to complete a single first-team signing this summer, though a £35 million deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson has been agreed in principle. That transfer is not expected to be formally confirmed until Ederson returns from representing Brazil at the World Cup.

In midfield, Carrick is targeting at least one further addition after missing out on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, both of whom joined Tottenham. Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott are understood to sit high on United’s shortlist, with Fulham’s Sander Berge, Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha also among the options being considered.

The only confirmed outgoing business so far is Andre Onana’s return to Trabzonspor, with the goalkeeper heading back to Turkey on another season-long loan, a deal confirmed on Friday.

Summerville’s potential arrival hinges significantly on what happens with Rashford, whose situation at Old Trafford remains unclear. United are monitoring several alternatives to Summerville, including West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, as they look to strengthen on the left flank before the transfer window closes.
