Man United hold internal talks over £43m Camavinga as Carrick eyes fourth summer signing
Manchester United have internally discussed a move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, though the France international is said to want to remain at the Bernabéu. United have already signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow this summer.
Manchester United have held internal discussions about signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga before the summer transfer window closes, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed, with the 21-year-old available for around £43 million amid uncertainty over his future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Romano reported that Camavinga has emerged as a target during United’s ongoing search for a defensive midfielder, alongside Roma’s Manu Koné. The club are looking for a player who can provide intensity and physicality in the middle of the park, and both names have been raised in internal meetings.
However, Romano was clear that any deal faces a significant obstacle: Camavinga himself does not want to leave Madrid. “Camavinga wants to stay, Camavinga wants to be an important part of Real Madrid’s project next season,” Romano said. “The Camavinga story could only be possible if the player decides to go. So this is why the deal for Camavinga is complicated.”
The interest comes after a hectic week of transfer activity at Old Trafford. United confirmed the £50 million signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, brought in Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million after triggering his release clause, and added goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer following the expiry of his Leeds United contract.
Despite those three arrivals, the club are still pursuing further reinforcements. Romano noted that United are “considering a few options before deciding who is the player they want,” suggesting no final decision has been made on a fourth midfield addition.
Complicating the picture further is the uncertain status of Ederson, the Atalanta midfielder United had agreed an £38.8 million deal to sign. That move is now in doubt following the club’s £85 million outlay on Santos and Tielemans, leaving his Old Trafford future unresolved as the window progresses.
