Luis Enrique surpasses Laurent Blanc's French club Champions League wins record
Thanks to PSG's 4-2 victory at Manchester City on Wednesday evening, Luis Enrique now has 28 Champions League wins on the Paris bench, erasing Laurent Blanc's previous record of 27.
Luis Enrique wiped Laurent Blanc off the board on Wednesday evening: by leading Paris Saint-Germain to a 4-2 victory at Manchester City, the Spanish manager became the most successful coach in Champions League history at the helm of a French club, with 28 wins in the competition.
Until this trip to the Etihad Stadium, Blanc held this record with 27 victories accumulated across three French benches: Girondins de Bordeaux (2007-2010), PSG (2013-2016) and Olympique Lyonnais (2022-2023). He shared it with Luis Enrique himself, who has now taken sole possession of the top spot, according to data relayed by the Stats Foot X account.
The statistic also illustrates PSG’s growing consistency on the European stage. The capital club, the defending champions in the Champions League, confirms match after match its ability to rival the continent’s best teams.
As for Laurent Blanc, reclaiming this record appears out of reach for now. The former France national team manager has been without a club since September 28, 2025, when he was sacked by Al-Ittihad following a 0-2 defeat to Al-Nassr of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League. No return to a Ligue 1 bench has been announced at this stage.
