Lucas Hernandez has been chosen by Luis Enrique to occupy PSG’s left flank against FC Barcelona on Tuesday, October 20, in the third matchday of the Champions League league phase. The decision came as a surprise: Warren Zaïre-Emery was widely expected to replace the injured Nuno Mendes, and Lucas Digne was also in contention.

The Spanish manager apparently opted for Hernandez’s defensive experience against Barcelona’s prodigy winger Lamine Yamal. This repositioning frees up Zaïre-Emery, who drops back into midfield to reform the Neves-Vitinha-Fabian Ruiz trio—the same combination that had dominated Manchester City the previous week at the Etihad Stadium.

Upfront, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia returns to the starting eleven after remaining on the bench during that trip to England. The Georgian winger partners with Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué in an attacking sector unchanged from the victory over City.

On Barcelona’s side, Hansi Flick fields a lineup without major surprises, with Raphinha as captain leading the line and Lamine Yamal starting on the right wing.

PSG: Safonov – Hakimi, Marquinhos (c), Pacho, Lucas Hernandez – Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz – Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia

FC Barcelona: J. Garcia – Espart, Cubarsi, Martin, Cancelo – Rodri, Pedri – Yamal, Fermin, Gordon – Raphinha (c)
