Lizarazu abandons TF1 studio live to greet Zidane after France-Belgium
On Monday evening on TF1, Bixente Lizarazu left his consultant position during the post-match show to go greet Zinedine Zidane, present at Stade de France as the new France manager.
Bixente Lizarazu deserted the TF1 studio during live broadcast on Monday evening to join Zinedine Zidane backstage at Stade de France following France’s victory over Belgium in the Nations League.
While the post-match show continued, the former left-back abandoned his seat, drawn by the presence of his long-time friend, now France manager. The sequence, captured live, immediately circulated on social media, with TF1 itself relaying it with a playful comment: “Abandonment of post for Bixente Lizarazu?! Zinedine Zidane seems more interesting than the end of the show!”
On set, presenter Thomas Mekhiche reacted with amusement: “We’ve totally lost Bixente. He forgot he had a job.” His colleague Grégoire Margotton concluded, laughing: “It’s over.”
After a few exchanges with “Zizou”, Lizarazu returned in time for the end of the show. The incident, brief and unintentionally comic, underscores the strength of the bonds forged within the 1998 generation, seemingly impervious to the constraints of live television.
