Liverpool are moving quickly to address defensive and attacking gaps this summer, with Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer and RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande identified as priority targets, according to reports from Calciomercato and Sky Deutschland.

Bremer eyed to fill Konate’s boots

Ibrahima Konate’s impending departure on a free transfer — after the 27-year-old failed to agree a new contract at Anfield — has prompted Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes to turn his attention to Bremer as a direct replacement. The Brazilian, 29, joined Juventus from Torino in July 2022 and has established himself as one of Serie A’s most commanding centre-backs, contributing four goals this season and 12 in total for the Turin club. Juventus are reported to have made him available for around £34.5 million.

Konate leaves after 183 appearances for the club, during which he collected the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup under both Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot.

Diomande pursuit intensifies

Liverpool are also said to be pushing hard for Diomande, the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international who has attracted attention from across Europe during an impressive season at RB Leipzig. The Reds’ interest has reportedly intensified following Mohamed Salah’s exit from Anfield, though Leipzig are holding firm on a valuation of approximately £87 million.

Diomande himself acknowledged the speculation this week without naming specific clubs. “Yeah, I heard. But I don’t know if it’s going to be okay for everyone to pay that,” he said of his asking price. “I’m not going to say Paris, Liverpool or Real [Madrid]. But it would be a good idea to play for big clubs. Everyone has ambitions and every day you want to go higher.”

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also reported to be in contention for the teenager’s signature, making it a competitive pursuit for Liverpool.

A busy summer ahead

The twin pursuits of Bremer and Diomande underline the scale of Liverpool’s summer rebuild. Beyond Konate and Salah, the future of left-back Andy Robertson and manager Arne Slot himself remain live topics as the club attempts to plan for next season.
