Liverpool have agreed to sign 18-year-old winger Djylian N’Guessan from St Etienne for €5m, with the teenager set to officially become a Liverpool player in January.

N’Guessan will spend the first half of the season on loan at Ligue 1 club Brest, after which Liverpool will decide whether to bring him to Anfield or extend his time in France.

The French winger has been in prolific form for his country’s youth sides, scoring 11 goals in as many games for France’s Under-17 team. He was a standout performer at the 2025 European Under-17 Championship, netting four goals, earning a place in the team of the tournament, and helping France reach the final.

N’Guessan is the second young player Liverpool have agreed to sign this week. The club also confirmed a deal for Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, who joins for a low initial fee but whose transfer could ultimately cost as much as £30m.

The signings are part of a broader recruitment push by Liverpool’s Global Talent team, which has also brought in goalkeeper Armin Pesci, centre-backs Mor Talla N’Diaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and midfielder Samuel Martinez over the past 12 months as the club looks to build for the future.
