LFA light heavyweight champion Lucas Fernando booked for UFC 330 debut against Rafael Tobias
Reigning LFA light heavyweight titleholder Lucas Fernando has signed with the UFC and will make his Octagon debut against Rafael Tobias at UFC 330 on August 15 in Philadelphia, according to a report by Guilherme Cruz.
Reigning Legacy Fighting Alliance light heavyweight champion Lucas Fernando has signed with the UFC and is set to make his Octagon debut against Rafael Tobias at UFC 330 on August 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, per a report by Guilherme Cruz.
Fernando (13-3) previously appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023, where he suffered a decision loss to Cesar Almeida. He then dropped his next bout on the LFA circuit before turning his fortunes around with four consecutive victories, the last two of which came by way of finish.
Now the reigning LFA titleholder, the Brazilian gets a second crack at the UFC after rebuilding his record and capturing regional gold — a path that mirrors the promotion’s preferred pipeline for developing talent.
His opponent, Tobias (14-2), is also looking to find his footing in the Octagon. The Brazilian earned his UFC contract with a submission victory over Jair de Oliveira on the Contender Series in 2025, but dropped his promotional debut to Diyar Nurgozhay in March. A win over the incoming Fernando would represent a significant step forward in establishing himself at the UFC level.
UFC 330 is headlined by a welterweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Ian Garry, with Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson serving as the co-main event for women’s strawweight gold.
