Cody Garbrandt has responded to his defeat against Adrian Yanez at UFC 329 with a defiant Instagram post, urging resilience in the face of adversity. The loss was his third in four outings and extended a difficult run that has seen him go 4-8 since winning the UFC bantamweight championship.

“There are moments in life when hope fades, and the weight of endless problems makes the path unclear,” Garbrandt wrote. “But remember this — you only lose when you choose to give up. Let your struggles be your fuel, not your downfall. Don’t let the storm break you. Let it strengthen your will to rise and keep fighting.”

The 33-year-old captured the UFC bantamweight title in December 2016 with a dominant points win over Dominick Cruz, but never made a successful defense. He lost the belt to T.J. Dillashaw in November 2017 — the first defeat of his professional career — and has struggled to recapture consistent form since.

Of his 12 professional losses, six have come by way of finish, including five knockouts, underlining the punishment Garbrandt has absorbed during a turbulent post-title run. The defeat to Yanez at UFC 329 continued that pattern and raised fresh questions about where the former champion goes from here.

Garbrandt has not publicly addressed his future plans beyond the Instagram post, which focused on personal perseverance rather than any specific next step in his fighting career.
