Letexier to referee OM-PSG Classique for fourth time in his career

François Letexier will officiate for the fourth time in a Classique when OM-PSG takes place on matchday five of Ligue 1, Sunday evening (20:45) at the Vélodrome. The Professional Football League confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.

Letexier will be assisted by Mehdi Rahmouni and Cyril Mugnier on the lines, while Marc Bollengier will serve as fourth official. Bastien Dechepy and Wilfried Bien will oversee video review.

The 36-year-old referee knows the fixture well. He first oversaw it in April 2022 at Parc des Princes for a Paris victory (2-1) in the league, then in February 2023 for a Coupe de France round-of-16 won by Marseille (2-1). His third Classique, in October 2024 at the Vélodrome, remains etched in Marseille fans’ memories: Letexier sent off Amine Harit after just twenty minutes for a high foot on Marquinhos, and Paris then won convincingly (3-0).

Sportively, the two clubs arrive in contrasting form. OM, thirteenth after four matches, are on three consecutive league defeats. PSG, seventh, validated a victory at Brest on Sunday (0-1). Only two points separate Bruno Genesio’s side from Luis Enrique’s in the standings, giving this first Classique of the season particular significance for the Marseille players, who will seek to end their poor run.
