Jonathan David scores first Atlético goal in 3-0 win at Real Sociedad
Atlético Madrid bounced back from their previous week's 3-0 defeat at Bilbao with a 3-0 victory away at Real Sociedad in Liga matchday 5. Jonathan David, who arrived this summer from Juventus, opened his account in the 90th minute.
Atlético Madrid responded to their previous week’s 3-0 defeat at Bilbao by winning 3-0 away at Real Sociedad on Sunday in Liga matchday 5.
The Colchoneros struggled to break through for much of the match before sealing it late on. Alex Grimaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 84th minute, giving the Madrid side the composure needed to finish the job.
Six minutes later, Jonathan David scored his first goal in an Atlético shirt. The Canadian striker, signed this summer from Juventus after several seasons at Lille, coolly finished a well-constructed move in the 90th minute. Giuliano Simeone sealed the victory in the dying seconds of added time (90+5).
This win allows Atlético to bounce back after a difficult week and confirm their ambitions in Liga, where competition is shaping up to be tight from the start of the season.
