Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was operated on Tuesday in Qatar for a serious right knee injury, depriving Paris Saint-Germain of its Georgian winger — sixth in the last Ballon d’Or — for the remainder of the season. Parc des Princes paid tribute to him on Monday evening, during the victory against Lyon (2-0).

Facing this prolonged absence, Luis Enrique and the Parisian management are studying three scenarios for the January transfer window: recruit a top-tier player even if it creates an offensive logjam upon “Kvara’s” return, bet on a developing talent capable of making a long-term impact, or opt for a six-month loan with no future commitment.

It is this third option that seems to be gaining traction, with a path leading directly to Estevao. The young Brazilian striker had a promising first season in England, but since Xabi Alonso’s arrival on the Chelsea bench, his playing time has collapsed. He is now only the fifth offensive option for the Blues, behind the trio Rogers-Palmer-Joao Pedro, and even behind Geovany Quenda when the latter was available.

According to several English media outlets, Chelsea would be willing to let Estevao leave for Paris, but under three strict conditions: a straight loan, without an option to buy; full salary coverage of the player by PSG; and concrete guarantees about his playing time. It remains to be seen whether these demands align with the expectations of the Parisian leadership, who must now decide quickly before the close of the winter transfer window.
