Guskov calls training partner Walker 'a moron' after bizarre pre-fight prank
Bogdan Guskov has laughed off a crude on-camera prank by teammate Valter Walker ahead of UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25, calling the Brazilian 'our own moron' while preparing for a short-notice main event against Magomed Ankalaev.
Bogdan Guskov has taken a characteristically blunt approach to his training partner Valter Walker’s latest act of chaos, branding the Brazilian fighter ‘a f*cking moron’ after Walker grabbed Guskov’s groin on camera during a training camp session ahead of UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25.
The two UFC fighters share a gym at GOR MMA under head coach Gor Azizyan, and Walker’s reputation for loud, boundary-pushing pranks is apparently well established within the team. Guskov, however, made clear that familiarity has not made the antics any less baffling — only more tolerable.
“He is a fcking moron. A fool. A fcking idiot. I didn’t expect that. I don’t understand him at all,” Guskov told Red Corner MMA. “He’s got chaos in his head. We’ve got to get used to his stupidity. As they say, he is a moron, but he’s our own moron. Our homie.”
Guskov also noted that trying to prevent Walker from sharing the footage was never a realistic option. “Try not to let him post anything; he would go home and still post it. And then won’t show up. He’s a godsend to a spy.”
Despite the circus, the Uzbek light heavyweight insists there were no hard feelings. He neither confronted Walker seriously nor asked him to take the clip down, accepting the incident as simply part of life alongside “The Foot Hunter”.
The timing adds an extra layer of context. Guskov (18-3) stepped in on just 14 days’ notice to face Magomed Ankalaev (20-2) in the UFC Abu Dhabi main event on July 25 — a significant short-notice assignment against one of the division’s most dangerous contenders. Walker (15-1) also features on the same card, meeting Thomas Petersen (11-4) in a heavyweight bout.
For Guskov, the prank appears to have done little to disrupt his focus. If anything, his reaction suggests the GOR MMA camp has simply learned to absorb Walker’s particular brand of disorder and move on.
