Guimaraes agrees Arsenal personal terms as Man Utd seal £50m Santos deal
Bruno Guimaraes has reportedly agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal as Newcastle insist their captain is not for sale. Meanwhile, Manchester United have completed a £50m move for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos after he passed his medical.
Bruno Guimaraes has agreed personal terms with Arsenal on a five-year contract, according to reports from L’Equipe, even as Newcastle United maintain the Brazilian captain is not for sale. The 27-year-old midfielder, who has two years remaining on his current deal at St James’ Park, has given the green light to a move to north London, with Arsenal expected to submit their first official bid to test Newcastle’s resolve.
Guimaraes, 28, asked to leave Newcastle amid Arsenal’s interest, placing the club in a difficult position with one of their most influential players. Despite their firm public stance, Newcastle have been active in the market themselves, signing Sean Steur from Ajax and agreeing a £50m-plus deal for Switzerland winger Johan Manzambi.
At Old Trafford, Manchester United have moved quickly to strengthen their squad, agreeing a £50m deal with Chelsea for midfielder Andrey Santos. The 22-year-old completed his medical and reports indicate all paperwork has been signed, making the transfer all but confirmed. United are also close to adding veteran goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer from Leeds United.
Liverpool are monitoring Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as a potential option to address the void left by Mohamed Salah, who impressed at the World Cup. The Reds are understood to be in the market for wide reinforcement, with an £80m move mooted.
Elsewhere, Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sell centre-back Luka Vuskovic to Brighton in a transfer that could reach £150m in total fees. Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has also been linked with a Premier League move, though no specific club has been confirmed.
