Georgina Rodriguez targeted Portugal’s coach Jorge Jesus in an Instagram story that was rapidly deleted, reigniting controversy over Cristiano Ronaldo’s exclusion during the Nations League gathering against Norway.

The message, spotted and archived by the Daily Mail before its deletion, contained a direct attack on the coach: “I don’t know how this man can bear the name of Christ,” wrote the wife of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. The story also included a montage comparing Jorge Jesus to Sir Alex Ferguson, accompanied by a quote presented as coming from the former Manchester United manager: “If Jorge Jesus knew deep down that he had no intention of using him, why did he call him up initially? To send a message? That’s not authority, that’s insecurity.” This statement, with the characteristic style of AI-generated content, was never actually made by Ferguson.

The message was distributed to Georgina Rodriguez’s 78.2 million followers before being removed within minutes, without any public explanation from her.

The episode occurs in a tense context between Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation. The Al-Nassr striker left the Seleção gathering early after being left on the bench during the match against Norway, a sign of a visibly deteriorated relationship with Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo has since returned to Saudi Arabia, and his future with the national team remains uncertain.
