Galatasaray eye Bruno Fernandes as United near Orozco signing announcement
Turkish club Galatasaray have reportedly identified Bruno Fernandes as a transfer target, though the United captain appears set to stay. Meanwhile, Manchester United are close to formally announcing teenage Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco.
Manchester United are preparing to officially announce the signing of Colombian teenager Cristian Orozco, while Turkish giants Galatasaray have emerged as unlikely suitors for captain Bruno Fernandes.
Orozco announcement imminent
United struck a deal for Fortaleza CEIF midfielder Cristian Orozco last September but have been unable to register him until he turns 18 on July 13. Once that date passes, a formal club announcement is expected to follow swiftly. The Colombian is set to arrive in Manchester before his birthday to begin settling in, including English lessons.
Orozco’s style of play has drawn comparisons to Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, though given his age he is expected to slot into United’s under-21 setup initially. However, with the club back in the Champions League under Michael Carrick, the door to first-team minutes — particularly in cup competitions — is not entirely closed.
Galatasaray’s Fernandes interest looks fanciful
Reports from Turkey, citing TRT Sport, claim Galatasaray are plotting a move for Fernandes and are waiting for Portugal’s involvement in the World Cup to conclude before making their interest official. The Istanbul club are said to be preparing an audacious approach for the 31-year-old.
However, the prospect of Fernandes leaving Old Trafford this summer appears remote. The United captain is understood to be energised by the club’s Champions League return and the progress made under Carrick in the second half of last season. Galatasaray’s interest comes roughly a year too late — Fernandes was reportedly close to joining the Saudi Pro League in the summer of 2025, but with conditions at United improving, that window appears to have passed.
Fernandes’ current contract expires next summer, with an option for a further year. United’s hierarchy will be keen to resolve his future, but a move to Turkey does not appear to be on the agenda.
Carrick backed for summer rebuild
Having been handed the United job permanently, Carrick is expected to be backed in the transfer market as he looks to reshape the squad. The midfield remains a priority following Casemiro’s departure, with Atalanta’s Ederson already confirmed as an incoming. Further additions and some high-profile exits are anticipated before the window closes.
